Climate Standard certifications fall into the category of voluntary certification schemes or Other Type I-like (ISO 14040). Other examples of schemes in the same category are FSC, PEFC, OEKO-TEX, BCorp.

Climate Standard certifications are created to provide a benchmark for companies interested in climate sustainability and embody the most important research, guidelines and technical reports from specialized bodies in the global landscape.

To keep the certifications impactful, Climate Standard is supported by a free and independent scientific committee of professionals, experts and academics.

As all certification bodies should do, Climate Standard does not perform emission calculation services, reporting, carbon credit sales or other types of consulting that could create conflicts during certification.

The automated climate data validation process does not allow any data falsification or discrimination among applicants.

In the case of Product certification, only the status of a single product line is certified.

In the case of Brand certification, the entire activity of the Brand can be considered Climate Neutral. In this case, the organization has the right to show the certification on all its products.

In both cases, the certification is retroactive, which means that it certifies the achievement of the status for the previous year and is valid for 1 year from the date of certification.

The organization must:

1) have an annual carbon footprint, product or corporate as chosen, from the year prior to applying for certification,

2) have offset 100% of these emissions with valid carbon credits (validity depends on meeting Climate Standard requirements),

3) sign up to smart targets for future emission reductions.

If you do not meet these requirements but would like to certify, or if you would like more information, the Climate Standard team is at your disposal.

Absolutely! Certifying Climate Neutrality is the only way to avoid Greenwashing associated with claims without independent verification.

For your consumers, it’s about transparency and reputation. Plus, our labels are a point of differentiation of your product from competitors and influences consumers in their everyday choices.

You have two options:

1) if you do not yet have the requirements, we can help you figure out how to get them and, if needed, point you to the best consultants in your area to support you in carrying out the application,

2) if you already have all the requirements, you can contact us or use the private area to proceed with the submission of the documentation yourself in complete autonomy by following the steps indicated just inside the private area.

Certify Climate Neutral products and brands with us

A subject certified is a Climate Standard-verified company, product, or event that meets climate neutrality requirements.

It is basically a nice label, but it is synonymous with safety, fairness and reliability.

Why get the certification

A subject certified is a Climate Standard-verified company, product, or event that meets climate neutrality requirements.

It is basically a nice label, but it is synonymous with safety, fairness and reliability.

What is Climate Neutrality

In a nutshell, it is a 1-year status of a subject that has calculated the emissions produced in the previous year (carbon footprint), offset them by supporting climate projects (offset with carbon credits), and started to implement strategies to reduce emissions from now on (reduction pledges).

Unitor REDD+

This project is watching over animals, plants, and how healthy the forest is. They’re also measuring how much carbon the trees store and develops income alternatives for the mining communities.

This project protects forests located in one of the regions with the highest deforestation rate in the Amazon Biome: the municipality of Lábrea, in Amazonas. Before this project the area was losing many trees – around 0.81% each year. This is like losing 194 soccer fields of trees yearly. Cattle-raising was the main reason.

Mekong Project water purifier

The Mekong Project provides portable water purifiers to rural communities along the Mekong River Delta, improving the environment and health. By eliminating the need to burn wood to boil water, pollution and deforestation are greatly reduced.

In rural Vietnam, 71% of families boil water using inefficient stoves, which is expensive and harmful to health. By removing the need for firewood and boiling, the project reduces pollution, indoor air issues, and deforestation, benefiting people’s health and easing the burden of firewood collection.

Blue carbon Venice by Sea the Change

The project takes care of the aquatic environment by carrying out regular maintenance work, which increases the number of different species and helps to absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere.

This project in the Venice lagoon uses the natural capture of CO2e through two types of algae: macroalgae, visible to the naked eye, and phytoplankton. These underwater organisms absorb CO2 through photosynthesis.

Evergreen REDD+

The project’s landowner is stopping deforestation and implementing policies that benefit the climate, community and biodiversity.

This project preserves 130,554 hectares of forest in Apuí, a Brazilian municipality in the state of Amazonas.
As the area with the tenth highest deforestation rate in Brazil, it is considered a priority area for forest conservation worldwide.
